Je note, de la lecture du programme de la Convention de la CCCC, qu'on parle de :

• globalism
• situation des étudiants : "how many students feel they must use their years in college to acquire a set of marketable skills in order to find jobs as information workers in a knowledge economy"; such "instrumentalism" (+ "issue of the global market for textbooks")
• democracy studies - et "literacy and democracy". With the need to update and revitalize work by Mina Shaughnessy in the 1970s' period of open admissions at CUNY (associated with the concept of "basic writing").
• WAC : Writing Across the Curriculum
• WID : Writing in the Disciplines

Je note aussi : Prof. J. Philippe-Joseph Salazar, Distinguished Chair in Rhetoric and Humane Letters, U of Cape Town (South Af), as keynote speaker. Elève de Lévinas, Barthes et Althusser à Ulm, directeur de recherche en "Rhetoric and Democracy" au Collège International de Philosophie, ayant travaillé far and wide sur l'histoire, la théorie et la politique de la rhétorique, dont sur le Report on Truth and Reconciliation in South Africa. Actuellement professeur invité en democracy studies à Orebro, Suède. Programme pour la rhétorique comme lieu d'où exploser les falsifications de la "public virtue" (and public roguery - but these are my own words. In his : "the collapse of rhetorical efficacy" - alors là on prend en effet un "tournant éthique". Rhétorique et éthique lévinassienne : un même plan conceptuel, un noeud d'une théorie du langage à une théorie de l'altérité. Voilà une branche identifiée, peut-être). Situation intéressante.

Aussi : le thème de la Convention de 2007 : Representing Identities. Parmi les thèmes de travail : digital literacy, equity. An interesting take on the misprisions with Chinese rhetorics (singular discursive traditions of quotation and paraphrase); the staking of a field labelled Composition and Cultural Rhetoric program.
